Home Study

Tomorrow is the first of our home studies! We will have three total, two with a social worker and one with someone from the state. We've been cleaning like crazy, painting, trying to scrub the walls and organize things that have never seen organizing! Our friends Bill and Amanda, who recently adopted the adorable Lilah, assure us that this is probably not what they're looking for. I hope they're right. They have been so helpful by answering our questions and lending us their adoption library. It's nice to have friends that have already gone through this. Here is a picture of us at the Elvis Blue Hawaii show on Amanda's birthday. It is a must do in Hawaii.

We have been doing the recommended things from a list we were given in our certification classes. We installed a new fire detector, got a fire extinguisher, a new first aid kit, etc. I guess this is just the beginning of things to buy for a new baby! During the interview tomorrow, the second two meetings will be set up. After they are all complete, the social worker drafts her report and submits it to the state, who will hopefully grant us a license. At that point, we're just waiting for THE phone call. We don't have an idea yet on how soon this could happen, but we do know that when we accept placement, we'll get the baby that day! I bet that we will be checking our voicemail a lot in the coming months.

Andrea & Jon,

Lilah and I are checking out your blog, we love it!!! It looks so great!! Can Jon add a picture to my title too?

Its 15 min till your social worker should be arriving. I'm sure you're plating up the scones and heating the tea kettle. It'll all go great - how could it not, any baby would be so blessed to have the two of you for parents.

We love you both!
