We know that every single person in our family on the mainland is chomping at the bit to either a) get a plane ticket b) charter a boat c) use some sci-fiction teleport device to get out here to Honolulu and be with our son. For that, Andrea and I could not be more blessed. The love coming from our family and close friends on the mainland right now is immeasurable. Through this entire process, all of you have been supportive, caring, understanding. Some have taken pained, late night phone calls. Some of you have laughed, worried, offered encouragement when it seemed like things were getting askew. And, although we'd like to think of ourselves as very independent (heck, we moved across the ocean), it's obvious to us that right now we'd love nothing more than to have each of you be here and hold, love on and whisper kind words to our son.
However, Hawaii is a very special place. And just as we've been able to welcome this young man into our lives and home, our special friends here in Hawaii have adopted us. Because the islands are so small (and more to the point, because life is just too damn short), people living in Hawaii understand a very important concept: Ohana (pronounced: OH-hah-nah).
It means "family".
Because of this special viewpoint, people here are "aunties", "uncles" and "cousins". Some of you have been out to visit us and understand what I'm talking about. Our "ohana" here in Hawaii has made sure that we take a minute to eat, have a glass of water and keep us sane (in a personal way). So, Andrea and I wanted to take a minute here tonight to thank our Hawaii Ohana for the dinners, support, clothes, laughs and love you've brought into our "hale" (home).
Frank Landon is blessed in so many ways: he has love that stretches across oceans. He is destined for great things. Everyone in our life has given us gifts that we hope to use to raise a great young man, and in doing so, honor our wonderful family.

A baby can never have too much love or too many aunts, uncles and cousins. You both are really "pros" at this baby thing. You will treasure this time forever.

Jon you never cease to amaze me! Your way with words is truly touching. It is so comforting to me that you are surrounded by so many wonderful people. I was so blessed to meet some of them during my visit. It makes it a little easier (not much!) knowing that they are there for both of you when I can't be there! Love to all of you!
